Website Audit St. George:

When I do a website audit, I look at approximately 50+ items that. I’ll see what issues your website has that needs to be fixed. Then when I start working for you I’ll have a checklist of repairs to do.

Do you have a great website but the phones aren’t ringing with leads?

I run Out of the Box SEO in St. George. I spend a  lot of time auditing local sites.

I’ve seen some sites that really needed help. (Every once in a while I’ll come across a website with a 1990’s design.)

If you’re a local business owner you should have an audit to figure out what you need to know about your website.

1. First, Can Customers Actually Find Your Website?

Another word for audit is checkup. A website checkup can help you determine how you are losing leads, jobs, and money.

A healthy site gets traffic and turns visitors into phone calls. It loads fast on mobile screens. It shows clear pricing and local contact details immediately. It ranks near the top of local maps. An audit reveals why your current site fails to do those basic tasks. You can’t fix a problem if you don’t know it’s there.

A well-designed site will get visitors and that leads to phone calls.

What makes for a while designed website?

*  It shows clear pricing and local contact details immediately.

*  It ranks near the top of the map pack.

*  It loads fast on mobile screens.

2. What Does Google See When It Reads Your Pages?

    • Your page titles need to state your location and services clearly.
    • Header tags should organize your thoughts logically for search engines.
    • Put keywords in your copy naturally without shoving them into every line.
    • Internal links help visitors click from one service page to another easily.
    • Check your site regularly for duplicate content mistakes.
    • Add local business schema markup to your underlying code. This code helps search bots read your address and hours correctly.

3. What Happens When Visitors Reach Your Website?

71% of visitors used cell phones to find you.

I’m sure you know what needs to happen on your site for a good cell phone experience.

    • Text needs to be large enough to read.
    • Buttons need to be large enough (and actually work!)
    • If there appears to be a link, make sure the link works.
    • Simple and clear navigation helps.
    • Headers sizes may need to be reduced for a mobile phone

A side note:  I have to be honest, I’m not certain that page speed is very much of a website factor anymore. Why? My cell phone has a download speed of 35 mb. That fast enough to download 35 – 1 mb images in one second. I don’t think website speed is a factor unless a website is very poorly designed.

4. They found you → Google understood you → they reached the site → can they use it?

      • Keep your site menu clean and obvious.

      • Don’t force users to guess where your service details hide.

      • Place your contact phone number near the very top of every single page.

      • Show real reviews right on your homepage to build instant trust.

      • Upload photos of your real local team and work vehicles. Stock photos look fake and lower your credibility.

    • Add basic accessibility features (like descriptive image alt tags) so everyone can read your pages easily. Simple design always beats fancy animations that confuse older visitors.

5. Does Your Website Prove You’re Really Local?

If not, here’s how to get that done:

    • Create specific pages for different nearby neighborhoods.
    • Talk about local projects you completed right here in Southern Utah.
    • Answer common questions local property owners ask you every week on job sites.
    • Fresh helpful answers attract motivated local buyers.
    • Write blog posts about seasonal home maintenance issues in our dry heat.
    • Use clear calls to action at the end of every article.
    • Tell readers exactly what to do next.
    • Outdated contact info or old service listings ruin your local authority quickly. Keep your details current.

6. A St. George Website Audit Can Help You Find Out If  Your Website Gives Visitors a Reason to Call

Place click to call buttons where mobile users can reach them easily. Make contact forms short and fast to fill out. Nobody wants to answer twenty questions just to get a basic quote. Small layout tweaks often double your direct inquiry leads.

Set up tracking analytics so you see where visitors drop off. Use basic visual tools to watch how users scroll through your site. Fix confusing layout blocks that stop people from reaching out. Better conversion rates mean more income without spending more on ads.

7. Are Technical Problems Quietly Killing Leads? Find out with an audit.

    • Your domain needs an active SSL security certificate. That little padlock icon builds basic safety trust.
    • Fix broken links that lead users to blank error pages.
    • Run regular malware scans to catch malicious scripts early.
    • Update your site software plugins every month without fail.
    • Keep full site backups stored safely on external cloud servers.
    • Test your online contact forms regularly to verify messages actually arrive in your inbox. Broken contact forms kill leads without you ever knowing it.

8. An Audit Will Tell You Why Your Competitors Ranking Above You

Look closely at competitors ranking above you in local maps. See what services they highlight on their main pages. Find gaps their sites ignore and cover those topics on your own site.

Maybe your competitors lack clear pricing details or miss local service areas. Fill those gaps with simple direct helpful answers.

9. Now What? Audit Summary & Action Plan

  • Group your audit findings into urgent fixes and long term projects.
  • Fix broken contact forms and slow page loads first.
  • Work on building local backlinks and neighborhood pages over the coming months.
  • I recommend auditing your site twice a year to keep things running clean. Use reliable diagnostic tools to spot fresh tech glitches early. Taking small steady steps keeps your business visible online all year long.

How to do SEO audit in five minutes

So during recent interview, the interviewer asked me to open a random website and asked me to analyse the SEO on the spot. What are key things i need to look for in just short span of time.

My Answer:  The easiest fastest way to do an Audit is to use Screaming Frog, export the results, up load it into an AI and ask it to analyize it the results with the most important issues first. This might take 10 minutes to do, but it will be very comprehensive.
